What is the Soul Restoration Project?
For a long time, many folks have wanted to believe that we were living in a post-racism world…that everyone’s rights were guaranteed in the Constitution…and that our children would live in a United States of equality.
With the arrival of the current administration and the resurgence of overt racism, those dreams are gone…and in their place have arisen centuries-old memories of trauma and very present fears. As black people, we feel it. These memories and fears can drive us to act out of pain and rage…can isolate us in depression, sabotage our effectiveness, paralyze us.
As an African American woman, I say – we can’t let that happen. We can’t afford it now. There is an imminent threat arising against our civil rights and liberties, our very lives, such as we have not faced for a very long time. This administration seems bent upon moving us backwards and we cannot allow it to do so.
As women, standing against the monstrous destructive force that is arising in this country, we need to be rooted in the power – and aware of the wounds – of our heritage. Drawing on the strength and pride of our ancestors….and understanding the traumas they faced. Traumas that have carried down through the generations and still lurk in our cellular memories to trip us up today. Traumas that must – and can – be released.
And that is why I have launched the Soul Restoration Project: to gather African-descended women together in community to support one another as we continue to awaken, claim our inherent power, and gather the strength to say No More! to the crimes of racism.
The Soul Restoration Project is a series of workshops designed specifically to address the unique issues of African-descended women who are seeking to heal from the past and current effects of overt and covert racism and the legacy of slavery.
Healing from the Traumas of Racism
According to recent scientific research, the effects of our ancestors’ traumatic experiences have been passed on to our generation, not as physical scars that we can see, but through markers adhering to our DNA. These show up in subtle ways that affect every aspect of our lives: through depression, anxiety, addiction, and other disorders, as well as through our self-esteem and relationships.
Similarly, our ancestors’ strengths, their growth and will to survive, still live in us and have the potential to affect our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being.
Today, One Source Energy Work offers an evolving vision of healing work for those of us who are affected by the legacy of racism:
…A vision of safe and sacred space where individuals can learn, acknowledge, and begin or continue the journey of healing.
…A vision of reclaiming the wholeness of our souls, free of self-blame, shame, and victimhood, walking forward in our true radiance.
If you are seeking support on your personal path of healing…if you are willing to walk this journey, not only for yourself, but also for your ancestors, your children, and future generations, contact us.
“I believe that there is one source of energy that connects all living things. And I believe that this source is inherently available, actually the part of our being that enlivens our physical bodies. We are whole because of it. And we are holy.”
